Energy Northwest Upgrades Connell and Dayton EV Charging Stations

Feature Story

Energy Northwest recently upgraded electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at its Connell and Dayton sites. These enhancements, made possible through funding from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), significantly improve charging capabilities and improve the experience for EV drivers traveling across Southeast Washington.

The upgrades were funded by WSDOT's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Partnership Fund, for Energy Northwest's Southeast Washington Corridor EV Project. This initiative has been instrumental in expanding EV infrastructure in the region. With the funds, Energy Northwest installed new ultra-fast EV charging stations in Burbank, Clarkston, Pullman, and Washtucna in 2024, and recently replaced the Level 2 and DCFC (Direct Current Fast Charger) equipment at the Connell and Dayton stations with newer technology and faster charging equipment.

EV charging has transformed significantly over the years, and Energy Northwest has been proud to invest in the transportation sector to help develop the infrastructure needed for this evolution. With funding from WSDOT, Energy Northwest has been able to upgrade some of its equipment to provide a faster, more efficient charging experience. These improvements reflect the agency's commitment to supporting sustainable transportation solutions across the region.

The upgraded charging stations at the Connell and Dayton locations are listed on the PlugShare mobile app and website, giving EV drivers an easy way to locate charging stations along the US-12 corridor.
