Burbank, Wash. – Energy Northwest held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 18 to celebrate a significant milestone in promoting sustainable transportation across Southeast Washington at its newly installed fast charging electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Friends Corner in Burbank. This event highlighted progress in the Southeast Washington EV Corridor project, a key initiative funded by the Washington State Department of Transportation's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Partnership Fund, which is focused on expanding EV infrastructure and supporting the region's increasing number of electric vehicles.
The Southeast Washington Corridor project features ultra-fast EV charging stations manufactured by FLO, located in Burbank, Clarkston, Pullman, Dayton, Connell and Washtucna to offer convenient charging options for EV drivers. Installed by Colvico Inc., the first FLO Ultra chargers are expected to be operational by the end of 2024, with full project completion projected for spring 2025 when the Connell and Dayton locations are finalized.
"This project reflects our commitment to clean energy and rural development, providing accessible and sustainable transportation options for both residents and visitors to the region," said Bob Schuetz, Energy Northwest CEO. "We're excited to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the benefits these stations will bring to our communities."
Integrated with the PlugShare and FLO mobile apps and websites, these new EV charging stations enable drivers to easily locate and access charging facilities throughout Southeast Washington.
“FLO is proud to support Energy Northwest's commitment to advancing electric mobility in Southeast Washington," said Louis Tremblay, FLO President and CEO. “The new FLO Ultra charger will bring reliable, fast charging to local EV drivers and expand critical infrastructure as more and more drivers choose electric for their next vehicle."
Energy Northwest is committed to sustainability and community development. By expanding EV infrastructure in rural areas, Energy Northwest aims to reduce carbon emissions, bolster local economies, and provide residents and travelers with enhanced transportation options.
