Scott A. Vance joined Energy Northwest in October, 2017. As vice president, Corporate Governance and general counsel for Energy Northwest, he is responsible for overseeing the Legal Services, Environmental & Regulatory Programs, Supply Chain Services, and Public Affairs departments.
Prior to joining Energy Northwest, Scott led a group of attorneys in direct support of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) fleet of seven nuclear units at Watts Bar, Sequoyah and Browns Ferry. During more than 10 years with the TVA general counsel’s office, Vance provided business support across TVA’s generation spectrum of coal, natural gas, wind, hydro and solar facilities.
Prior to TVA, Scott spent seven years with the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in Washington, D.C., as an associate and nuclear regulatory specialist. Before becoming an attorney, Scott was a contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management; a senior consultant and manager with the engineering consulting firm JAI Corporation.; a project manager with CH2M Hill; and a senior research engineer with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
Scott earned his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law. He holds master’s degrees in nuclear engineering, and technology and policy, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in general engineering (nuclear option) from Idaho State University.
