Richland, Washington – Energy Northwest has successfully completed the installation of a network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along State Route 14 (SR-14), enhancing accessibility for EV drivers traveling through the Columbia River Gorge. This collaborative project, developed with the City of Bingen, City of Goldendale, Port of Skamania County, and FVRLibraries, fills a critical gap in the region's EV infrastructure.
The newly installed stations include Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) and Level 2 chargers at key locations in Goldendale, Bingen, and Stevenson, funded by grants from the Washington State Department of Commerce. These stations offer convenient and reliable options along the scenic highway for residents and visitors, making SR-14 a more sustainable travel route while also connecting these communities.
“The completion of this project marks another milestone in Energy Northwest's mission to expand clean energy solutions and support electric transportation in rural communities," said Brian Cunnington, Energy & Professional Services manager at Energy Northwest. “These new stations ease range anxiety and allow drivers to explore the scenic route with confidence."
To celebrate the project's completion, Energy Northwest hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 5 in Goldendale. The stations are now fully operational and listed on the PlugShare website and mobile app, ensuring EV drivers can easily locate charging options.
