Larry Willey, vice president of Energy/Business Services, joined Energy Northwest in 2013. In this role he is responsible for the development of new business opportunities and the operation and maintenance of all non-nuclear generation assets.
Before joining Energy Northwest, Willey worked as a senior energy consultant and vice president of a large wind technology company. He has extensive experience in a broad range of energy services, power generation projects and aeromechanical research and development.
At Clipper Windpower, he was vice president of Operations where he managed the entire power generation development life-cycle, including design engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, installation, operations, fleet reliability, services and warranty functions for more than two dozen wind projects across North America representing nearly two gigawatts of generation.
Prior to Clipper, Willey held several positions at General Electric Wind Energy, GE Power Systems and United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney. His broad and in-depth experience in development and engineering includes work as a former project engineer for the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program and aircraft gas turbine research and development for United Technologies.
Willey has both a bachelor’s and master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Hartford and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, respectively. He also holds several patents and copyrights on thermal power generation machinery and wind turbine technologies.
