Dale Atkinson, vice president, Energy Services and Development, joined Energy Northwest in 1989. In his current position, he is responsible for Information Services, Human Resources, Supply Chain Services, Document & Data Services, Facilities & Commercial Engineering and Environmental & Regulatory Programs.
Prior to assuming this position, Mr. Atkinson served as vice president of Operational Support, vice president of Nuclear Generation, chief nuclear officer, vice president of Technical Services, Engineering manager, Quality manager and Reactor Engineering/Fuels manager.
Before joining Energy Northwest, Mr. Atkinson was a supervisor of Startup Testing with General Electric for six years. He also provided consulting services on initial power plant testing to several utilities. Mr. Atkinson has 35 years’ experience in the nuclear power industry including five years of service in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Atkinson holds a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from Oregon State University, a Master of Engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington. He is certified as a senior reactor operator on General Electric boiling water reactors and qualified as a station nuclear engineer and shift technical advisor at Columbia Generating Station. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
Mr. Atkinson is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Engineers, former chairman and continuing member of the advisory board for the Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics department at Oregon State University, chairman of the nuclear safety review board for Columbia Generating Station and a member or director on several non-profit boards.
