Kathy Vaughn was the first woman elected to the Snohomish County Public Utility District Board of Commissioners. Elected in 1994, she is the longest serving commissioner in the utilities’ 60-year history being re-elected to her third term in 2006. Commissioner Vaughn was appointed to the Energy Northwest Board of Directors in 2004 and served as its vice president from 2005 to 2007. In April 2006 she was elected by the board of directors to the executive board and was re-elected in April 2010. She served as the assistant secretary until 2008 when she was selected to be the secretary.
Ms. Vaughn was also nominated by the region and serves on the Policy Makers Council for the American Public Power Association to work on national energy policy issues in Washington, D.C.
Commissioner Vaughn is an accomplished business woman and was selected Business Woman of the Year in 2005 by the Snohomish Business Journal. She is the president and licensed broker of Goldmark Financial Corporation, a Washington state mortgage brokerage firm. She is also co-owner of a construction company with her husband.
Prior to her election to the commission, she was active in the community, running many youth organizations and served as a precinct committee person. She resides in Lynnwood, Wash.
