Power Supply and Environmental Affairs Officer

Michael (Mike) Jones is Seattle City Light’s Power Supply and Environmental Affairs Officer. In this position he provides leadership in the business unit responsible for power generation, power marketing, environmental issues, energy conservation and utility support services. Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public power electric utility in the U.S., has the nation’s longest running conservation program, and has been greenhouse-gas neutral since 2005. In 2013, Mr. Jones was appointed to the Energy Northwest Board of Directors.
Mr. Jones brings varied and deep experience to his work. He owned and operated a management and technical consulting firm that offered services to organizations in many industries, including energy, manufacturing, construction, insurance, entertainment, software development as well as nonprofits.
In addition, he spent 12 years with The Energy Authority in both Florida and Washington states, where he supported the organization in risk analysis, risk management, power management and IT enterprise operations. He began his career as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
He also serves on the boards of other organizations in the energy industry including the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and the Pacific Northwest Utilities Conference Committee.
Mr. Jones and his wife, Jane, enjoy the hobby of winemaking, with 11 varietals being nursed along this year. When they can, they visit their two adult children and two grandchildren in Florida.
