Frisco selected to lead nuclear engineering team at Columbia

RICHLAND, Wash.  – Energy Northwest has selected Joe Frisco as Engineering General Manager for the consortium’s Columbia Generating Station, the only nuclear power plant in the Pacific Northwest.
In his new role Frisco oversees a broad range of professional engineering activities in five engineering sections staffed by approximately 160 engineers. In addition to his professional engineering credentials, Frisco has also held a Senior Reactor Operator’s license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Frisco was part of the Energy Northwest team from 1993 to 1999 working in a variety of positions including chemistry, work control, and operations. He returned to Columbia in 2006 to join the engineering team here as the License Renewal and Projects Manager. During his time away from Columbia he worked at Progress Energy’s Brunswick Plant at Southport, NC and the Watts Bar nuclear power plant on the Tennessee River near Spring City, TN. He was the engineering manager at Watts Bar.

Energy Northwest was the first Joint Operating Agency formed in Washington state and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in January. The JOA owns and operates nuclear, wind, solar and hydro power generation facilities in the state and is presently developing a 680-megawatt power plant in at Kalama, Washington, to be fueled with hydrogen-rich gas produced at the same facility.
