RICHLAND, Wash. – For the eighth consecutive year public power leader Energy Northwest has been given a clean bill of health by State financial auditors. The recently completed annual audit examined the Joint Operating Agency’s financial records and reported no formal findings, or significant errors.
Energy Northwest received congratulations on the audit results in a letter from Washington State Auditor Brian Sonntag to the agency’s Executive Board Chairman, Sid Morrison.
In his letter Sonntag said, “This accomplishment shows Energy Northwest’s dedication to sound financial operations and timely financial reporting.” He went on to say, “Energy Northwest has taken positive steps to protect public dollars…” and “We view our partnership as a model for relationships with other entities.”
Energy Northwest was the first Joint Operating Agency formed in Washington and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in January. The JOA is developing a 680-megawatt power plant in at Kalama, Washington to be fueled with hydrogen-rich gas produced at the same facility. Energy Northwest also owns and operates nuclear, wind, solar and hydro power generation facilities in the state.
